CPAP Breathing Machines and Senior Travel

CPAP breathing machines are not only for seniors, but any one who suffers from sleep apnea.  Sleep apnea is where you stop breathing while you sleep.  Without the machine you will wake up every morning feeling tired all day because, you didn't get the deep sleep you need, to get  through the day.  After a while it could cause your health to go down hill and even cause a fatal heart attack.  The CPAP can save your life.  To travel with a CPAP is a must, if you want to travel, so the travel industry has to acknowledge what it is and how important it is.

The airline industry has acknowledged the CPAP, and has a special procedure for you to go through, at the security check line.  They ask you to take the motor out of its travel case and put it through the x-ray machine alone.   They also recognize that the CPAP is important enough to have to go on the airplane with you, and not with the luggage.  When you get to where you are going, I don"t think the hotels, motels, and resorts, have the recognition yet, on what they have to provide you to use the CPAP.  What is needed is an electrical plug near the bed you will be sleeping in.

In my travels with a CPAP, I found that the plugs near the bed are for the lite on the night table, and the clock, that you can use to wake up by.  If I am lucky the plug is right behind the night table and all I have to do is unplug the clock and plug my CPAP in.  But I found in some hotels, motels, the plug is behind the bed and I can't get to it without tearing the bed apart.  The answer to this problem is to ask for a plug to be available to you, when you make the reservations.  The travel industry will eventually become aware of the CPAP and how important it is and will make it easier to travel with.

Senior Travel Companions

To travel alone is not as fun as traveling with a companion.  As a senior you are able to travel, but you don't have a close friend or family member, that can go with you.  Now, the internet can solve that problem.  The trick is to find someone who has like interest, and is a senior like yourself.

Senior centers, are a wonderful place to look.  There are usually a senior center, in almost every city or town in America.  There, you can become a member, and, take part in their activities through out the year.  Senior centers, also, usually have day trips to exciting places, in the area.  Also, they sometimes have longer trips to sign up with and you will probably by then have made friends, and, have found a perfect companion to share a vacation with.  So, look in your own area on the internet, and the telephone directory, for a senior center near you.

Other ideas are, to look at travel organizations, on the internet, that also, help you find  a companion.  If not, they will find a trip itinerary, that includes seniors that have the same interest, and, that have a reasonable single supplement.  Here, you can travel with people your own age, and, find friends to enjoy it with you.  Senior cruses, are a possibility for you to meet new people.  Escorted tours, are another vacation, where you will meet senior friends.  If you want to travel and do not have a companion, don't stay home, go for it, it may be a life changing decision.

Considerations to Take Before You Travel

When a senior citizen finally retires, and is finally able to travel to far off places, there are considerations to take, before you go.  To be safe, study the laws of the country and what rights you have as an American citizen.  The most important organization to contact, to answer this question, is, The Department of State, who issues travel warnings to travelers, traveling to other countries.

It is advisable to study the country of your choice, through research at the library, through travel brochures and talking with travel agents.  The most important consideration is to pay attention to the fine print and ask many questions.  In your research, think about when you would like to travel.  During the best weather the country has, which is the most busiest season, or, during the off season, when travel is cheaper. Another consideration would be, if you want to travel on your own or with a travel  group.  There are many tour groups, that put together a packaged tour with other like people.  They are mostly small groups.  Some tours are where you travel by luxury bus from place to place and you stay one or two nights at each destination.  This method is at a faster pace and you see a lot in a short time.  Then there are group tours, where you stay at three different locations for a week, and bus out to the interests in one day or a half day trips.  This is much more leisurely.  Then there are group tours, that travel by riverboat, where you dock each day in a different location and see the sights by foot or bus.  On these group tours there are tour directors, whose job it is to make your trip as safe and as comfortable as possible.  This feature to traveling with a group is good.

The Difference Between .net and .com

The difference between .com and .net is not clear.  In the beginning of the internet the letters that come after the dot signifies what kind of business was affiliated with the domain.  If there is a dot com after a domain name, it means the domain does business on the internet, .com for commerce.  If there is a dot net after a domain name, it means the domain, deals in technology based or network based business, .net for network.

Because the internet exploded and the company's and individuals who wanted to register their domains  were put off, because there were not enough people to handle the demand, the company's and individuals registered their own domain names and used the dot com and dot net as they saw fit.  To know more about .com and .net go to: http://www.divazdomains.com/2009/08/06/the-difference-between-net-and-com.html
